Do you have a passion for renewable energy and a sharp eye for technical details? Would you like to work on large-scale, innovative renewable energy projects? Then join our team as a Mechanical Engineer and put your competences into play in developing transmission systems for offshore windfarms.

Your position

As our new Mechanical Engineer, you will join the highly specialised and motivated Engineering Studies and HVDC team in the Renewables business area. With our vast in-house knowledge and experience, we help our clients in the project development stage by finding the most effective solutions for bringing energy to the shore. This is where you will be our new Mechanical Engineer.

“With one of the largest project portfolios in offshore substations worldwide, we are proud to be market leaders in our industry. Our Offshore Wind markets include Europe, Asia, and the USA, which means that you can expect to be involved in projects worldwide!” - Head of Studies and HVDC, John Olsen.

Your tasks & responsibilities

You will be part of designing the most optimal electrical architecture based on topics such as cost of construction (CAPEX) vs. cost of operation (OPEX) optimization, availability, and redundancy – as well as guiding our clients in making the best decisions.

The studies typically cover the entire transmission system i.e., export and array cables layout plus onshore and offshore substations design and structure.

Your tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting concept, feasibility, and due diligence projects with a senior electrical perspective – the focus technologies are AC transmission, DC transmission, floating substations and offshore Power-2-X
  • Active involvement and leading design and calculations for substation topsides incl. all involved mechanical auxiliary systems such as Diesel, HVAC, Material Handling, ducting/piping layout etc.
  • Leading mechanical engineering activities as a generalist – such as building equipment and solutions specifications, concept designs, substation layout considerations, cost estimations, technical risk assessments etc.
  • Executing development tasks in general
  • Engaging with stakeholders internally and externally

Your profile & qualifications

As a person, you are outgoing, trustworthy and able to exert influence when needed. With your great attention to detail and curious nature, you take a creative and innovative approach to problem solving and are eager to develop your existing knowledge and skills. You think logically, are willing to self-learn and can work in small teams. Moreover, a good sense of humor and a collaborative nature is always appreciated at Semco Maritime.

To succeed in this position, we imagine that you have:

  • A relevant technical education such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar with experience from mechanical engineering processes.
  • Excellent IT and programming skills
  • Experience from the utility sector or offshore wind industries is an advantage, but not an ultimate requirement
  • Experience with offshore wind power transmission concepts and feasibility studies is a clear advantage, but not a requirement
  • Great communication skills and fluency in EWelcome to Semco Maritimenglish, verbal and written
